Every Morning and Afternoon, take the opportunity to join your English-speaking Guide and other like-minded travellers to begin a journey through 2,000 years of the lost, hidden and suppressed history of the Sephardic Jews of Granada. Starting in the historic city center, make your way past the Cathedral & the Chapel of the Catholic Monarchs, down to the beautiful Plaza BibRambla to discover the fascinating & violent history of the the heresies, conversions, trials and executions of the Sephardi under the Inquisition, then on to the old Silk Market and the Alhondiga, discussing the role played by the Jews in establishing and maintaining Al Andaluz as the major economic and financial power of the age. Passing the dramatic monument to Columbus and the Reconquista, we enter the old Jewish Quarter of the Realejo, Granadas' oldest barrio, and center of European Jewry for more than a millennia. Leading you through the narrow alleys of this ancient neighbourhood, your guide will illuminate the literary, scientific, linguistic, cultural and philosophical legacy of the Sephardi during the Golden age of Islam and the Renaissance. Visiting the newly restored Cuarto Real de Santo Domingo, the site of the Sephardic Cemetary, and the stern Bermeja Towers all predating the Alhambra you'll walk the streets and and soak up the hidden history of this magnificent, once great Jewish community. Your tour will finish with a stroll through the lush Alhambra park to finish in the city center for a plate of locally sourced Tapas, accompanied by a glass of wine from the mountains of the Sierra Nevada or a locally produced, hand-crafted artisan beer.
